Who can join the club?
Our club welcomes riders of all ages and abilities. We have dedicated groups for beginners, through to experienced cyclists, so everyone can ride at a level that suits them.
Do I need to be an experienced cyclist to join?
Not at all. We’re a friendly and inclusive club, and many of our members started with little or no experience. Our coached sessions and group rides are designed to help you build skills and confidence at your own pace.
What speeds do you ride at?
You should be able to ride at 18-20km/h average for 50km to enjoy our organised road rides. In future, we are hoping to offer road rides at lower average speeds for riders looking to get back into cycling and improve their fitness.
What types of riding do you offer?
We offer a wide range of cycling activities, including road riding, gravel cycling, skills sessions and social rides. We also organise occasional track days and special events throughout the year.
What should I bring to a session or ride?
You’ll need a roadworthy bike, a properly fitted helmet, and suitable clothing for the weather. We also recommend bringing water, snacks, and a basic repair kit (such as a spare inner tube and pump). We would also recommend good quality front and rear lights, particularly when riding on the road.
Are rides supervised?
Yes. Adult group rides are either hosted or led by experienced ride leaders to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
Is membership required?
You’re welcome to try a few sessions before committing to membership and the club offers a 30 day, free trial to help you make sure our club is the right fit for you. We do encourage regular riders to become members though, membership helps support the club and provides access to all our activities and events.
How do I join?
Joining is easy – simply get in touch through our website by completing the Adult riding application form.
Is there a waiting list?
There is currently no waiting list for Adult membership at present.
Do you provide bikes or equipment?
Members are expected to bring their own bikes and helmets. If you’re unsure what you need, we’re happy to offer advice before you join.
Can I use an electric bike for rides?
Yes, or course. Our club is about inclusion for all and if an electric bike ensures you can get out and enjoy our rides you are more than welcome.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety is our priority. If conditions are unsafe, sessions may be modified, relocated, or cancelled. We’ll always communicate any changes in advance where possible.
How do you ensure safety?
We follow established safety guidelines, use risk-assessed routes, and ensure all sessions are led by trained and experienced hosts or ride leaders. We also encourage all riders to follow good cycling practices at all times. Most of our ride leaders have also completed first aid training courses to ensure your safety on club rides.
