Who can join the club?
Our club welcomes children of all ages and abilities. We have dedicated groups for all skill levels, so all children can ride at a level that suits them.
Does my child need to be an experienced cyclist to join?
Not at all. We’re a friendly and inclusive club, and many of our juniors started with little or no experience. Our coached sessions are designed to help them build their skills and confidence at their own pace.
What types of riding do you offer?
We offer a wide range of cycling activities, including road riding, off-road cycling, skills sessions and junior specific programmes.
What should my child bring to a session or ride?
They’ll need a roadworthy bike, a properly fitted helmet, and suitable clothing for the weather. We also recommend bringing water, snacks, and a basic repair kit (such as a spare inner tube and pump). We would also recommend good quality front and rear lights, particularly when riding on the road.
Are rides supervised?
Yes. All junior sessions and rides are fully supervised by trained leaders and coaches to ensure your child’s safety and enjoyment.
Is membership required?
We run induction sessions for new members, after which, if successful, membership payment is then required. Our membership fees help to support the club and provides access to all of our activities and events for your child.
How does my child join?
Joining is easy – simply get in touch through our website by completing the Junior riding application form.
Is there a waiting list?
There is currently a waiting list for our Junior riding sessions. However, please submit your application and as soon as places become available we will get in touch.
What if my child is new to cycling?
That’s perfectly fine. Our junior programmes are designed to support young riders at every stage, from learning basic bike handling skills to progressing onto more advanced riding. However, for beginners, we do request that the rider can ride without stabilsers and can start and stop unaided.
Do you provide bikes or equipment?
Juniors are expected to bring their own bikes and helmets. If you’re unsure what you need, we’re happy to offer advice before you join.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety is our priority. If conditions are unsafe, sessions may be modified, relocated, or cancelled. We’ll always communicate any changes in advance where possible.
Can parents stay and watch junior sessions?
Yes, parents are welcome to stay and watch. For younger riders, we may ask that a parent or guardian remains nearby during the session. We are happy for parents/guardians to take photographs of their own children at our junior sessions, but any photos that are shared on social media must not include other children for safeguarding reasons, unless permission has been given from other parents/guardians.
How do you ensure safety?
We follow established safety guidelines, use risk-assessed routes, and ensure all sessions are led by trained and experienced volunteers or coaches. We also encourage all riders to follow good cycling practices at all times. Most of our ride leaders and coaches have also completed first aid training courses to ensure your child’s safety on club rides.
